Who is DCD Photo restoration & Video Tape Transfer?

DCD started with something very personal. After my mum passed away, I found myself looking through old family photographs and wanting to bring some of them back to life. Some were faded, damaged or showing their age, but they were also full of memories.

Restoring those photographs made me realise just how much meaning can be contained in a single old picture. A photograph can take you straight back to a person, a place or a moment that might otherwise have been forgotten. The same goes for those boxes of old VHS tapes, camcorder tapes and cine film that have been sitting in cupboards and lofts for years.

I’m the person behind DCD Photo Restoration & Video Tape Transfer.

Hi, I’m Dave

That’s what led me to start DCD Photo Restoration & Video Tape Transfer. I wanted to use my skills to help other people look after those memories too – that could be restoring an old family photograph, or bringing old video and cine film into a format that can be watched and shared again.

More than 20 years of working with images

Alongside DCD, I’ve worked as a graphic designer for more than 20 years. My career has involved working with photographs, artwork and printed materials every day, so I’m used to looking closely at images and paying attention to the small details.

That experience has become a big part of how I approach restoration. I’m not interested in simply making an old photograph look different. The aim is to repair and improve it while keeping the character of the original photograph and, most importantly, the people in it.

A personal service

DCD is a small independent business, which means you deal directly with me from your first enquiry through to the finished restoration or transfer.

I take the time to understand what you have, what you’d like to achieve and the story behind it. It could be one treasured photograph or a box full of old family tapes, I treat every job with the same care and attention.
