Video tape, camcorder tape & DVD transfer

Preserve your old VHS video tapes, 8mm and MiniDV camcorder tapes and DVDs

Transfer your family videos to USB and watch them again on modern TVs and computers.

Those old tapes and DVDs often contain moments that can’t be replaced. Transferring them to digital gives you a much easier way to watch, share and back them up.

“A big thanks to Dave for transferring my VHS-C camcorder footage from the 1990s to a memory stick. He went above and beyond to do these before he went on holiday so I could present them for a birthday. He was great at keeping in touch and I would highly recommend DCD photo restoration and videotape transfer for quality and service.”

Why choose tape digitisation?

Magnetic tapes degrade naturally over time, and if stored poorly they can develop mould or suffer tape damage.

Digitising and transferring your tapes now:

  • Stops further deterioration

  • Protects your memories for future generations

  • Makes your videos easier to watch, share and store

  • Allows you to play digitised footage on modern devices.

If your tapes need cleaning or repairing before transferring I offer that service at an additional cost. See the pricing page for details.

What about transferring to DVD rather than USB?

As a rule I supply your videos digitally on USB rather than DVD

DVDs create a lot more physical waste, from the discs and plastic cases to the packaging, whereas a USB is a much more compact and environmentally friendly option.

It’s also far more convenient – it takes up virtually no space, is easy to store and back up, and makes sharing your videos with family and friends much simpler. It’s a better option for your memories and kinder to the planet too!

However, if DVD is your preferred or only option, please let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate your needs.
